ME PERIOD BY ME UNDIES

This Campaign concept dives deep into the global issue of period poverty, lack of education in women’s health, lack of available + affordable resources

Globally, an estimated 500 Million Women & Girls lack access to adequate Menstrual Products & Facilities. Also known as Period Poverty.

Period poverty can lead to increased risk of UTI & Toxic Shock Syndrome due to using products for longer than recommended or using inadequate alternatives. Like Socks, Newspaper, Paper Towel, Plastic Bags, & more.

PERIOD POVERTY CAN LOOK LIKE:

LACK OF ACCESS TO MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS

Not being able to afford menstrual pads, tampons, menstrual cups, or other necessary hygiene products.

INADEQUATE SANITATION FACILITIES

The lack of access to clean or private toilets, sinks, and waste disposal options, making it difficult to manage menstruation hygienically.

LACK OF FEMININE HEALTH EDUCATION + INFORMATION

Limited access to accurate and comprehensive information about menstruation, hygiene practices, and related health issues can exacerbate the challenges of period poverty.

SOCIAL STIGMAS + SHAME

The stigma surrounding menstruation can prevent people from openly discussing their needs and seeking support, further isolating those experiencing period poverty.

CONSEQUENCES OF PERIOD POVERTY

Missing school or work, increased risk of infections, other health problems, and negative impacts on mental health + self-esteem.

DISPROPORTIONATE IMPACTS

Period poverty mainly affects low-income individuals, people of color, and those in marginalized communities.
